Development, LLC
Privately held RLJ Development, LLC (RLJ)
was launched in December 2000 in Bethesda, Maryland, and today
is America’s largest African-American hotel investment
company.
The company was formed by Mr. Robert L. Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment
Television (BET), the pioneering cable television network, Dr.
Sheila C. Johnson and Thomas J. Baltimore, Jr. RLJ was created to capitalize
on management’s ability to attract low cost capital and identify well
located hotel real estate. RLJ actively acquires, repositions, renovates, and
re-brands institutional-quality hotel properties throughout North America and
the Caribbean, and asset manages these properties throughout their intended
investment cycle.
RLJ is exceedingly well capitalized, and is
building an enviable portfolio of first-class hotels in strong,
diverse markets. The company focuses on urban markets and other
distinctive locations offering exceptional barriers to entry,
and only the strongest brands in each respective market are considered.
The company welcomes inquiries from hotel owners and operators
seeking to re-capitalize or liquidate their hospitality holdings.
